Lilly & Connor: Sunday

It's nice and warm outside. Everyone here says they had a coldest winter in 2010-2011 which are the first year we came here. We though they maybe exaggerating or forgot how cold it was in 2009 already but it seems like we (incl.you) really experienced the coldest winter last year.
We have set our central heating temperature 65F which is 18 degrees to save oil cost. Not too bad so far.

My holistic kids doctor in Tokyo he is almost 90yo with full of energy, he told me he only pays 3000yen /month ($30) for electricity. He doesn't use electricity. He says you train your body and body can be stronger. Not eat too much walk a lot not spoil your body then you can be healthy. I read many of his book and i thought he has a point so i decided to follow his lesson.
Kids seem they are comfortable with temperature at home, they don't get sick often like other kids do, so I thought this lifestyle is really good.

As you know we all went to Steiner school on Thursday. Scott stayed with us for full class. 9:00-11:00.
It was pretty exciting for me to see real Steiner school I have been reading and known only from books. I have so many Steiner books here.
It was exactly the same as book. Pinky natural wooden style room with no plastics, teacher never raise their voice, they are always singing quietly with Pentatonic(5 tone)melodies while they are kneading bread, knitting, stirring soup etc. Steiner teachers don't usually play with kids. They work besides kids. And kids are comfortable playing besides working adult.

At the end of class there was time for outside play. This teacher asked me if I have a hat for Connor. I didn't so I said no then she asked me if I want borrow one for him.
I know it's important to wear hat in the summer but it's not really necessary for winter with no snow. I said I don't think we need hat today.

outside, she came to me again and said she is really uncomfortable to see children with no hats on. I thought oh gee it's too overprotected so I asked her have you heard of Russian education called Nikitin. This is the famous natural parenting way like my holistic doctor in Tokyo and we believe and do.
She said she knows about it but in Steiner education it's different from that. Kids need to be warm all the time. I still can't explain well in English or Japanese why so scott will explain to you what exactly she said why it's bad.

Well people always says different things so we just need to pick up things we think it's good.
It's interesting to go to Steiner school though. Lilly likes it (I think it's more like because she could spend time with daddy there) so it was good.

No picture or video though. They don't like cameras phones any character clothes shoes etc. older kids are not allowed to wear jeans either. Pretty strict.

Oh today is the 4th day with no tv at home. I put the cloth on tv said to Lilly tv is gone. Lilly believes that and she hasnt asked me for tv since then. I watch tv on my iPhone after kids went to bed ;) I still like tv ;)

It's pretty quiet Sunday tday. Scott has toothache (went to dentist yesterday) si we all stay at home.

I baked some bagels in the morning so we had that for lunch.

Since we stopped buying mayonnaise and bread I make my own. It taste so much better and fresh and no chemicals. We try not to buy most processed foods so we don't buy bacon and ham either. So I make ham too ;)

Salami i bought for the new year meal. Cheese...hmm we still buy cheese. Should eat cottage cheese make my own from milk.

Lilly and Connor they play together really well. Connor loves being in small space. I found him in a doll house today.
